About Marine Molecular Ecology and Evolutionary Laboratory (MMEE)
We are broadly interested in exploring the fields of ecology, evolution and systematics concerning marine invertebrates, with a particular focus on decapod crustaceans. Our major research topics include tree of life for Decapoda, genetic and phenotypic adaptations in crustaceans, mangrove crab ecology and evolution, marine symbiosis, marine biodiversity distribution pattern and drivers etc. To achieve our research goals, we employ a multidisciplinary approach that integrates techniques from molecular biology, phenotype characterization, bioinformatics, field surveys as well as animal experiments. We aim to shed light on the processes and forces driving adaptation and speciation in natural systems. Simultaneously, we also hope our research can foster public engagement and promote conservation efforts to safeguard marine ecosystems.
